How To Wear...High Waisted

So tonight I made a "costume change" for the latter part of my day (dinner and a movie) and I decided to break out my brand new high-waisted jeans from TopShop. I am very confident that no one else in a fifty mile radius has this style of jeans. In my area, the only other way to snag a pair would be to pay lots of cash for some See by ChloĆ© jeans at Nieman Marcus or to shop the vintage stores for a pair from the 70's. While getting dressed, I couldn't quite find the right top to make my outfit work. So I devised some style tips on how to wear high-waisted jeans.

  • Make sure the jeans are snug and fit well. They won't be flattering if they stretch or sag in the waist, crotch or bum area.
  • If wearing a wide-leg style, pair the jeans with wedges or high heels to visually elongate the leg. That is, unless you're 5'10" like a model.
  • If wearing a skinny leg style, also consider your body type when choosing your footwear. If you're lean, opt for flats. If you have some curves, then heels will balance out your proportions.
  • Remember that the high waisted style can make your legs look longer, but it may also make your booty look bigger because of the extra fabric. Pick jeans that have pockets that are placed lower down. If the pockets are too high or too small, this can also make the booty look larger than it really is. Remember, these aren't mom jeans. They're high-waisted, but they can be modern and flattering.
  • Avoid high-waisted styles that have whiskering and fading on the thighs and butt area. I tried on a pair at TopShop with fading and whiskering that looked OK from the front but horrible from the back. Fading highlights those areas and whiskering creates horizontal lines across the thighs which is unflattering.
  • Don't forget to tuck in your shirt! When tucking it in, don't pull the blouse or shirt out too much because this adds volume where you don't want it. On the other hand, don't tuck it in too tightly because it looks stuffy and is uncomfortable.
  • Accessorize with a skinny belt to draw attention to your high-waisted style.
  • Have fun with it! And smile because no one is going to see your plumbers' smile!

Most expensive hair cut: 1,925 pounds

If you want London stylist Lee Stafford to cut your hair, make sure you are extra loaded. He calls it a “couture cut”. And the only place where you can get one is his house. Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and a follow-up trim as part of the package.

WILL YOU BUY THESE ITEMS??????

Most expensive shoes: 1 million pounds

Would you feel like a princess or what when you wear something worth 1m pounds? The most expensive shoes in the world were on sale at Harrods in London. After a photo-call for the press, the shoes were locked away in a bullet-proof case where they will be guarded round-the-clock. The shoes, inspired by the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, were woven from platinum thread and set with 642 rubies. They were designed by Stuart Weitzman.

Most expensive denim jeans: Over $ 4,000

They wanted to be “the Mercedes-Benz, the Maybach of the denim industry”. And APO jeans have done just that with a pair costing as much as $ 4,000 or more. They offer mens and ladies jeans with Silver Buttons and Rivets at $1,000, 14k White or Yellow Gold Button and Rivets at $1,500, Platinum Button and Rivets at $3,250, and the Diamond Button and Rivets start at $4,000. All Jeans will come with Authenticity Number as well as an Appraisal Sheet from a top Jeweler in the NY diamond district. Of course, you could buy the economy version: they run only $1,000 a pair. APO jeans are constructed from denim woven in India that costs $40 a yard, compared with the $2- to $3-per-yard cost of materials for most designer denim. Buttons and rivets are made with precious metals or, if a customer is willing to shell out $4,000 or more, up to a dozen white diamonds on the main button.

Most expensive perfume: 47,500 pounds

At 47,500 pound sterling, it is the world’s most expensive perfume. Indeed, the best things come in small packages. The fragrance, created by renowned British perfumer Arthur Burnham, is held in a 4 in bottle made with platinum, 24 carat gold, rubies and diamonds.

Most expensive Tie: Rs 1 crore

When fully dressed Salman Khan paraded on a red ramp displaying the most expensive tie in the world, the picture was splashed all over the globe. The tie, studded with 261 diamonds of 77 carat each and made of pure silk with 150 grams of gold, is priced at a whopping Rs 1 crore. It is designed by Satya Paul and the Suashish Diamond group.

IS EYELINER ONLY FOR WOMEN??????

16 Male Celebrities Wearing Eyeliner…
You may be of the school of thought that eyeliner is only for women but there are men out there who are set on changing the general population’s point of view. I personally think that men wearing eyeliner are hot but only for eye candy. I would not want to live with a guy who takes longer to put on makeup than me, know what I mean? How about you? Do you think the following guys can get  away with wearing eyeliner?

1. Jared Leto

1
Oh, the most beautiful Jared Leto. While I like him sans makeup, I think he looks hot with eyeliner.

2. Pete Wentz

3a
One man who proudly wears his eyeliner. I wonder if he and Ashlee shares the same brand.

3. David Cook

4a
His is a bit subtle but I think it gives him that “dirty” singer vibe. Not dirty in a smelly way but in a sexy way.

4. Adam Lambert

5
What’s a guyliner post without good old Adam Lambert. He is known for his flamboyant makeup and hair as much as being part of American Idol.

5. Johnny Depp

16
Ah, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. *sigh*
Wait, what was I blogging about? Oh yeah, male eyeliner. Do you know that there is a Facebook page about Johnny looking better in eyeliner than most women????

1. Statement lips
Boldly coloured lips are big news this season. For a "seriously uninhibited lip", chocolate and cherry tones are suggested. Ruby, garnet and currant also work beautifully. If you're nervous about going super bold, apply bright shades as a stain instead. To achieve the berry-stained pouts, concentrate lipstick in the centre of the lip before blending the colour out towards the lip line using a lip brush.

2. Eyeliner
From '80s rock to modern Geisha girl, eyeliner is a must-buy this autumn. "Liquid eyeliner is everywhere," says Morris. "Try using a pencil instead of liquid eyeliner to soften a really graphic look," says Burford. "Or soften the edges of liquid liner with an eye shadow." Alternatively, downsize. "An overly exaggerated catwalk shape can be reproduced as a 'mini–me' version," says Burford. "For example, a square, box-shape liner can be translated into a blunt edge rather than the usual tapered tail."

3. Eye-popping colour

Shades of grey and silver, glitter-encrusted or full-throttle hues, eyes have gone all-out. "Bold eyes look really effective as an evening or party make-up," says Burford, who warns against trying statement eyes during the day. To channel the '70s and '80s rock and disco-inspired looks at Ellie Saab, Zac Posen and Salvatore Ferragamo, try shades of grey, blue and teal. If you're new to colour, Burford suggests trying softer bronzes and burgundy shades. "They're a great alternative if you're shy of bold colour," she says. Or add just a pop of colour to your usual smoky eye. "Try a hint of coral on grey eye shadow or a pop of green on bronze," advises Burford.

4. Pretty flush

Glowing, flushed skin is a must this cool season. To achieve the luminous complexions seen on the Missoni and Bill Blass runways, Burford suggests using a luminiser under and over foundation. Morris advises swapping foundation for mineral powder. "Mineral powder is non-irritating so it's perfect for sensitive skin and gives a really polished look to the complexion," she says.
5.Wow brows
Stop over-plucking; thickly defined brows are a mainstay. "Big brows are important this season," agrees Morris. But don't think you can let them go altogether — this season's sleek and sophisticated brows require careful grooming, so visit your beautician for a professional brow-shaping. "And invest in a brow pencil in a similar shade to your natural brows to give them fullness and fill in any gaps," suggests Morris.
